Description of the work: Station renovations
Métro impacts: The secondary entrance building (west entrance) will be closed from Friday, September 19, until summer 2026. Access to the station, which will remain open, will be through the main entrance building (east entrance).
Bus impacts: None.
Impact on customer trips
Reopening of the main entrance building
As of Friday, September 12, the main entrance building of Saint-Michel station will reopen to métro users.
Closure of the secondary entrance building
Starting Friday, September 19, the secondary entrance building will be closed for the duration of the work, which is expected to be completed by summer 2026.
Bus impact
The 41 – Saint-Michel/Ahuntsic East and 141 Jean-Talon East bus stops will return to their usual locations on Boulevard Shaughnessy.
Impact on the station
- Partitions will be installed on the platforms and in some areas inside the station, but they will not affect customer trips.
Impact on local residents
Shaughnessy Boulevard is one-way westbound towards Saint-Michel starting from Everett Street.
As a result it is forbidden to turn right onto Shaughnessy from boulevard Saint-Michel. Parking must be in the direction of traffic between Everett Street and Saint-Michel Boulevard. In addition, traffic on Shaughnessy Boulevard, from 12th Avenue, is only permitted eastbound.
These changes will remain in effect for the entire duration of the worksite to improve pedestrian flow at the Saint-Michel and Shaughnessy intersection.
Work schedule
Any construction work likely to generate noise will generally be scheduled between 7:30 a.m. and 7 p.m. Some work may continue over weekends, in accordance with municipal by-laws. Also, some work must absolutely be done outside of métro service hours and may be carried out at night.

- Saint-Michel station was inaugurated on June 11, 1986, and welcomed its first passengers on June 16 of that year. At its peak, it recorded around 4.5 million boardings. In 2022, it ranked 18th out of 68 stations in terms of ridership.
- Saint-Michel station has been the eastern terminus of the Blue line since it opened in June 1986, almost 40 years ago. It was originally built as a temporary last stop while the future Blue line was being mapped out.
- Saint-Michel station was designed by architects Roy E. LeMoyne and Michel Lapointe of LeMoyne & Associés. The same firm had previously designed Jarry station on the Orange line.
- On the station platforms, four illuminated panels draw the gaze of commuters. Like large windows in the middle of the vaulted part of the station, these glass panels reveal colourful artworks in four distinct styles by four different artists: Marcelin Cardinal, Charles Lemay, Lauréat Marois and Normand Moffat.
