The end of work at Champ-de-Mars station: Working elevators, a green roof and new artwork

Something new in the métro : the STM, Bell, Rogers, TELUS and Videotron bring mobile connectivity to Montréal métro stations

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and its partners Bell, Rogers, TELUS and Videotron today announced that they have turned on a wireless network along a stretch of the Montréal metro. The green line segment, which runs through the downtown area between the Guy-Concordia and Saint-Laurent stations, is now equipped with leading edge mobile technology, such as 3G, 4G and 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution). Customers of all four wireless providers will be able to browse the Internet, watch videos, listen to streamed music, make and receive calls and so much more, directly from within the metro cars and throughout the tunnels and stations. Montréal becomes one of only a handful of cities in the world where the underground subway is equipped with a 4G LTE mobile network.

The Board of Directors of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) today announced it has adopted the 2015 budget, as well as the new fare structure taking effect next January 1, 2015. The budget features targeted service additions to meet expanding needs in certain areas.

As part of their cultural exchange, Bruxelles Mobilité and Société de transport de Montréal (STM) today announced the names of the artists who will produce new public artworks for the Montréal and Brussels métros. Phase IV of the Réno-Systèmes program : the STM plans on investing $582.5 M in métro stationary equipment

From 2015 to 2020, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will invest $582.5 M to replace métro stationary equipment as part of Phase IV of its Réno-Systèmes program. At its last meeting, the Board of directors approved a $570 M loan bylaw to that end.

STM announces the opening of a reserved lane for buses and taxis on Grenet

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announces it is opening a new reserved lane through Ahuntsic-Cartierville and Saint-Laurent boroughs, along rue Grenet, next Monday, October 6, 2014.

YELLOW METRO LINE: SECOND PHASE OF WEEKEND CLOSINGS FROM SEPTEMBER 13 TO DECEMBER 21

The STM is set to begin the second phase of work during which the métro’s Yellow line is shut down on weekends while repairs continue on the tunnel’s ceiling. The Yellow line will therefore be completely closed on Saturdays and Sundays from September 13 to December 21, as well as on Thanksgiving Monday, October 13. However, the line will be kept in service for the Montréal Marathon, during the September 27-28 weekend.

UPCOMING OPENING OF MUHC: WORK REQUIRED AT VENDÔME STATION

In preparation for the opening of the McGill University Medical Centre (MUHC), Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will undertake construction work at Vendôme métro station in October to improve its passenger capacity and flow in order to meet an increase in ridership expected to reach 38% by 2016. Some 5.6 million transit users passed through this station in 2013, roughly 19,000 per weekday.

STM ANNOUNCES THE DEPLOYMENT OF BUS PREFERENTIAL MEASURES ON VIAU

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing that two reserved lanes will become operational on Viau. The first, between de Viterbe and Saint-Zotique, is reserved for buses and taxis, while the second, between Rosemont and Pierre-De Coubertin, is a pilot project, reserved for bus-taxi-bicycle use only. The pilot project for a bus-taxi-bicycle reserved lane will serve to test the lane-sharing ability of these three different transportation modes. Combined, the measures benefit some 13,000 trips taken daily, mainly by 136 – Viau bus users, since last August 11.

Renewal of reduced fare OPUS cards: STM photographers visit over 150 high schools, cegeps and universities

Until mid-October, STM photographers will be stopping in over 150 high schools, cegeps and universities, giving students the opportunity to quickly obtain or renew their reduced fare OPUS card while avoiding last-minute line-ups.

The Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) and the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) hosted the 2014 edition of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) world conference, which included two activities: the International Rail Rodeo and the Rail Conference. The event gave Canadian and American APTA members a unique opportunity to meet and share their knowledge and experience. STM announces new reserved lane for buses and taxis on Sherbrooke St. West

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is pleased to announce that a new reserved lane for buses and taxis will be operational on Sherbrooke St. West as of next Monday, June 2. This measure will benefit some 18,000 trips taken daily by customers who ride aboard the 105 – Sherbrooke and 420 – Express Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, 51 – Édouard-Montpetit, 162 – Westminster, 138 – Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and 17 – Décarie bus lines.

Free STM shuttles for Montréal Museums Day

Montréal, May 22, 2014 – To help visitors get around more easily on Montréal Museums Day next May 25, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), as the official carrier, will again offer free shuttle service as it has done every year since the event was first held in 1987.

The STM launches a competition to gift a work of art to the Brussels Metro

Today, the STM announced it is launching a competition for a work of art that will be installed in the Brussels Metro, specifically inside Trône station. The competition is part of a cultural exchange process with Bruxelles Mobilité, the administrative body responsible for equipment, infrastructure and mobility within the Brussels-Capital Region.

First weekend of Yellow métro line closure: three shuttle services available to customers

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) reminds its customers that the Yellow line of the métro will be completely closed every Saturday and Sunday, from this weekend until May 25, due to work being carried out on the tunnel's vaulted ceiling, as announced this past December.

Following the adoption of the 2014 budget, the STM board of directors today presented the highlights of a 1.3 billion dollar budget that mirrors the difficult budgetary situation prevalent throughout Québec and Montréal, and which is putting downward pressure on STM revenues.
