By métro, bus or shuttle, the STM is spending Nuit blanche with you!

Press release

Thanks to the Société de transport de Montréal’s (STM) partnership in the MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE festival’s Nuit blanche, night owls will be able to take advantage of expanded public transit service on the métro, on buses and on shuttles.

Montréal, February 26, 2014 – Thanks to the Société de transport de Montréal’s (STM) partnership in the MONTRÉAL EN LUMIÈRE festival’s Nuit blanche, night owls will be able to take advantage of expanded public transit service on the métro, on buses and on shuttles.

The metro open all night

To make travel easier for the thousands of festival-goers, the metro will be open all night from March 1 to March 2. You will need a valid transit fare to ride. Last year, during the 12 hours of Nuit blanche, from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m., the STM provided some 384,000 trips on the metro, a 6% increase in ridership over 2012’s Nuit blanche.

STM shuttles never miss a party

The STM will also offer four free shuttle circuits that will travel through the downtown area, Plateau-Mont-Royal, Mile End and Old Montréal. In total, some 60 stops will be spread out over these circuits, allowing festival attendees to discover the host of activities available during Nuit blanche.

Night-time Paratransit

The STM’s Paratransit will also offer special service for Nuit blanche until 4 a.m. Return service will be provided to and from meeting points on the festival’s various circuits.

Paratransit customers can reserve transportation from their homes to any of the following locations:

  • On the Old Montréal circuit: the corner of Saint-Laurent and de la Commune
  • On the Plateau-Mont-Royal and Mile End circuits: the Maison de la culture du Plateau Mont-Royal
  • On the downtown circuit: Saint-Urbain Street next to Complexe Desjardins
  • On the Olympic Park circuit: the Biodôme and the Botanical Garden

Please note that Paratransit service is reserved for eligible individuals. Customers will be able to travel around and between the festival sites by means of the free shuttle service (low-floor buses with an access ramp at the front).

Regular all-night bus service lines

In addition, the STM will continue to run its all-night bus lines which, along with the metro, will combine to offer holders of valid transit fares complete service for the night of March 1-2. To find night bus schedules and routes, customers are invited to consult the STM’s website.

To do Nuit blanche right, the STM encourages night owls to get an Unlimited evening fare. For $5, you can take the bus and metro as many times as you like between 6 p.m. and 5 a.m.

Activities in the metro

Once again this year, some Nuit blanche activities will be held within the metro network itself. In collaboration with non-profit La Ligne Bleue, Jean-Talon station will be taken over by dance between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m.

As well, performances by the Étoiles du métro will be held at Berri-UQAM station (from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m.), Complexe Desjardins (from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.) and the Eaton Centre (from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.).
