After a 37-year career, the first woman to become a bus driver for the Société de transport de Montréal is retiring. Francine Maltais joined the company ranks, then known as the CTCUM, in 1977.

Over the years, women made their way in the company and started to take on work that was previously exclusive to men, thanks to the courage of Ms. Maltais and of the other women who followed in her steps. She was indeed a pioneer and the STM salutes her and wishes her all the best in her retirement.

Diversity on the rise

Après 37 années de service, la première femme à être devenue chauffeur pour la Société de transport de Montréal prend sa retraite. C’est en 1977 que Francine Maltais a fait son entrée dans l’entreprise qu’on nommait alors CTCUM.

Avec les années, les femmes ont pris leur place au sein de l’entreprise et ont commencé à exercer des emplois auparavant réservés aux hommes grâce au courage de Mme Maltais et à celui des autres femmes qui l’ont suivie. Mme Maltais est une pionnière et la STM la salue et lui souhaite une excellente retraite.

The STM is proud to participate in the pilot project, L’économie sociale, j’achète! (The social economy: I buy it.). The Société will thus ensure that this type of enterprise is invited to participate in calls for proposals and, quality and price being equal, the STM will favour them.

Officially launched on September 12, 2013, this pilot project is designed to test in action strategies to enhance business relations between social economy enterprises and major Montréal institutions.

La STM est fière de participer au projet pilote « l’Économie sociale, j’achète », s’engageant ainsi, dans le respect des règles en matière d’octroi de contrats publics, à favoriser davantage l’approvisionnement en biens et en services auprès d’entreprises d’économie sociale. La Société veillera donc à inviter ce type d’entreprises lors d’appels de propositions, et à qualité et prix égal, elle les favorisera.

Montréal, May 22, 2014 – To help visitors get around more easily on Montréal Museums Day next May 25, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), as the official carrier, will again offer free shuttle service as it has done every year since the event was first held in 1987.

Montréal, le 22 mai 2014 – Afin de faciliter les déplacements des visiteurs à l’occasion de la Journée des musées montréalais le 25 mai prochain, la Société de transport de Montréal (STM) offrira gratuitement, à titre de transporteur officiel, un service de navettes, comme elle le fait depuis les débuts de l’événement en 1987.

The mobile version of the new stm.info website has won a NUMIX award in the business communications / service app category. STM’s mobile web application uses the core elements of the stm.info website and adapts it to the needs of transit users on the move. NUMIX prizes reward the best multimedia and interactive productions in Québec. In a sense, they are a showcase for excellence and innovation in the field of digital media.

La version mobile du nouveau site stm.info a remporté un prix NUMIX le 15 mai dernier, dans la catégorie communications d’entreprise / Application de service. Rappelons que l’application web mobile de la STM reprend les éléments centraux du site web stm.info et l'adapte aux besoins des utilisateurs en constant déplacement.

From May 20 to August 24, 2014, the Guy entrance to Guy-Concordia station, located at 1445 rue Guy, will be closed to customers while repairs take place. Transit users can still enter the station from the Saint-Mathieu entrance, at the corner of Saint-Mathieu and De Maisonneuve.

The temporary closure will enable the STM to repair the concrete slab, staircases and lighting. Wall and floor finishes will also be replaced.

Du 20 mai au 24 août 2014, l’édicule Guy de la station Guy-Concordia, situé au 1445, rue Guy, sera fermé à la clientèle en raison de travaux de réfection. Les clients pourront accéder à la station par l’édicule St-Mathieu, à l’intersection de la rue St-Mathieu et du boulevard de Maisonneuve.

Cette fermeture temporaire permettra à la STM d’effectuer la réfection de la dalle de béton, des escaliers fixes et de l’éclairage. Les finis muraux et de plancher seront également remplacés.
