New Rates for the New Year

Montréal, December 30, 1996 - The STCUM wishes to advise its customers that new fare rates will be in effect as of next January 1st. The new rates are as follows: regular fare bus/métro pass - $45, reduced fare CAM monthly pass - $19, regular fare 6-ticket strip - $8, reduced fare 6-ticket strip - $4. Cash fares will remain the same: regular fare - $1.85, reduced fare - $1, as will the cost of a tourist pass - $5/1 day, $12/3 days.

Because of the Holidays, the STCUM has also decided to extend the selling period of the CAM. It will be available everywhere in the métro network until January 5 and in the Angrignon, Berri-UQAM, Côte-Vertu, Jean-Talon, Henri-Bourassa, Honoré-Beaugrand, Lionel-Groulx, Snowdon and Saint-Michel terminal-stations on January 6 only.

Lastly, it should be noted that new regulations concerning the use of transfers will also come into effect as of January 1st. Passengers who have taken a transfer will no longer be able to use it to make a return trip or to temporarily suspend their commute and then continue on the same route. As is the case with most North American transit companies, transfers will allow passengers to board another STCUM vehicle in order to complete a commute and this, as in the past, within a 90-minute period. By adopting this measure, the STCUM expects to increase its revenues by 1.5 million dollars since this affects about 2% of the network's commutes.
