To gain insight into the public transit needs of Westmount residents
Montréal, March 27, 2023 – In the next stage of its bus network redesign project, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing a consultation to gain insight into the public transit needs of Westmount residents.
“Since their introduction in 2019, these public consultation sessions have opened a dialogue with public transit customers,” says Éric Alan Caldwell, Chair of the STM Board of Directors. “The redesign, which is one of the major initiatives of our Strategic Organizational Plan, will in time allow us to connect our various modes of transportation, improving mobility for hundreds of thousands of customers on the Island of Montréal. I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate that this process is a part of our internal review of all our bus service families, which aims to continue better serving our public transit customers.”
Customers participating in the consultation have two ways to communicate their transportation needs. They can either join the virtual information session on March 29 at 6:30 p.m. or comment in writing on the dedicated consultation website, between March 14 and April 16. Participants have the chance to:
- Comment on the ideas of others, including those of the STM
- Suggest ideas and receive comments from other participants
- Learn about the results of the consultation once they are available
The aim of the bus network redesign is to improve customer experience and review the design and architecture elements of the surface network. Public consultations have already been held in different areas of the city since the start of the project. Changes brought about by the redesign will be implemented gradually and aligned with the commissioning of major public transit infrastructure, notably the REM. All of this will be done in conjunction with the consultation of other sectors. More information on the bus network redesign is available online.
