146 - Christophe-Colomb / Meilleur bus route modified

Montreal, 15 June 2005 - Beginning June 20, the Société de transport de Montréal will modify the westbound 146 – Christophe-Colomb / Meilleur bus route by extending it to Henri-Bourassa métro station, all day Saturday and Sunday, as well as after 8 p.m. on week nights.

In addition to providing transit users with direct access to Henri-Bourassa métro station and making it easier to transfer onto other bus routes, this modification will result in more parking spaces being available to the faithful who attend Saint-Maron cathedral during its busy periods. The bus route’s current terminal stop is at the corner of Georges-Baril and Henri-Bourassa, next to the church.

As Pierre Lapointe, City of Montréal councillor for Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough, said: « Modifying the 46 – Christophe-Colomb / Meilleur bus route will now result in making maximum use of all parking spaces along Georges-Baril street, which will improve access to the cathedral when attendance is high, while improving the situation for residents of neighboring streets. Moreover, it shows that the STM pays attention to the needs expressed by citizens. »

For more information, transit users should call STM-INFO (786-4636) or consult the STM website at www.stm.info for more useful transit information.
