Josée Pedneault
Strates (2025)
Engraving on anodized aluminium
Programme d'intégration des arts à l'architecture du gouvernement du Québec
Location: mezzanine
This artwork depicts a horizontal superimposition of leaves of urban and wild plants reproduced on a very large scale, progressing from dark tones at the bottom to lighter shades at the top. Growing in open spaces or between concrete cracks, these plants evoke the history and folklore of the Outremont neighbourhood; they become, in the work, the imaginary geological strata of the soil.
Did you know?
The plants collected by the artist have been digitized like a photographic negative. Through this process, light passes through the leaves, revealing their organic structure.
