Montréal, April 9, 2015 – Aiming to improve public transit’s service offer, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announces it is enhancing shared taxibus service in Senneville, Lachine, Baie d’Urfé and Rivière-des-Prairies by adding new stops as of Monday, April 13.
« The STM is constantly striving to improve transit accessibility in all sectors of the island of Montréal without bus service by offering other modes of transportation, like taxis. Indeed, the purpose of shared taxibus service is to meet an obvious need that the regular bus network cannot fulfill. To date, the STM has been operating 13 shared taxibus routes, » declared Philippe Schnobb, chairman of STM’s board of directors.
Taxi Baie-d'Urfé
Adding a new stop in the central sector of Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue borough, at the corner of Sainte-Anne and Saint-Pierre streets, will provide Baie-d’Urfé residents with an additional transport during daytime off-peak periods. The Baie-d’Urfé shared taxibus runs Monday to Friday, except on legal holidays. During morning rush hour, taxis offer service to Baie-d’Urfé train station from all taxibus stops. Conversely, during afternoon rush hour, taxis take commuter trains passengers from the station back to any taxibus stop. In between, as well as on Thursday evenings, taxi service is available from one stop to another. Before each ride, customers must reserve a seat at least 40 minutes in advance by calling 514 636-6666, a new number coming into service on April 13.
Taxi Senneville
Two new stops in the residential sector, located between Turnstall and Elmwood avenues, will shorten the walking distance to existing STM bus stops. Also, a new taxibus stop will serve Senneville’s industrial park, north of Highway 40. The route currently taken by Senneville shared taxis has stops along Senneville road from which passengers can transfer to the 68 – Pierrefonds on Gouin boulevard, to the commuter train at Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, and to the 200 – Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, 211 – Bord-du-Lac, 212 – Sainte-Anne, 405 – Express Bord-du-Lac and 411 – Express Lionel-Groulx at John-Abbott College bus terminus. Again, customers must reserve a seat at least 40 minutes ahead of time by calling 514 637-4444. However, no reservation is required for a few rush hour departures that specifically serve Laboratoires Charles River employees.

Furthermore, the two stops on rue Sherbrooke at the corner of 40e Avenue and 48e Avenue will be cancelled and replaced by a more centrally-located one at the corner of rue Sherbrooke and 44e Avenue, provided the area with better coverage. Service is offered Monday to Friday during morning rush hour to Lachine train station and back to the various taxibus stops from the station during the afternoon peak period. Customers must reserve their ride at least 40 minutes in advance by calling 514 637-4444, a new telephone number coming into service on April 13.
Taxi Gare Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Prairies

Taxibus service runs Monday to Friday, except on legal holidays. Duriing morning rush hour, taxis take customers from their taxibus stop to the Rivière-des-Prairies train station; in the afternoon, taxis provide return service from Anjou train station back to taxibus stops. In the morning, some departures can possibly take passengers to the first terminus stop for the westbound 49 – Maurice-Duplessis, providing them with an alternative. Before each ride, customers must reserve a seat at 40 minutes ahead of time by calling 514-273-6331, another new number coming into service on April 13.
