STM now offers a replacement guarantee on OPUS cards

Montréal, August 05, 2010
Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform clients who use regular transit fares that they can now register their OPUS card at the customer service centre at Berri-UQAM station, or at one of the points of service located at Honoré-Beaugrand, Jean-Talon, Côte-Vertu and Lionel-Groulx métro stations, as well as the STM Terminus at Fairview Pointe Claire shopping centre. Clients can check the STM website to find out at what time these various points of service are open.

Registering their OPUS card makes it possible for cardholders to personalize them and thus be covered by the replacement guarantee in case of loss or theft. Indeed, any valid transit fares remaining on the OPUS card at the time it is declared lost or stolen will be replaced.

To register the card, simply fill out an OPUS application form, which can be downloaded from the Fares section of the STM website (www.stm.info), go to any point of service with the completed form and hand it to the customer service representative. Information folders that include the application form are also available at all points of service. The lost or stolen card will then be voided and a new card, loaded with the remaining valid fares on the missing card, will be issued. Clients only pay the cost of a new card, according to the set rate.

Children, students and seniors can already count on the replacement guarantee, as they need a photo ID OPUS card to pay the reduced fare.

When planning their transit use, clients are invited to call A-U-T-O-B-U-S (514 288-6287) for bus arrival times at their stop. For any other information, they should call STM●INFO, at 514 786-4636.
