April 24 and 25:
The STM will participate in the vast opération montréal.net

Montréal, April 7, 2010
Michel Labrecque, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), a partner in the event, was present for the announcement by Mayor Gérald Tremblay of the vast city spring cleaning and beautification operation that will take place on April 24 and 25.

The STM, itself concerned about providing its clientele with a pleasant and clean environment, could do no less than join in and contribute to a campaign such as this. It will become part of the action on April 24 and 25 by participating in this major operation and by publicizing it in its network.

“I invite the population to actively participate in this major spring cleaning and beautification operation announced this morning, because it’s everybody’s business. Whether it’s the surroundings of a métro station, on a bus, on our property, in the lane, or in a park, together we can definitely make a difference. Each action counts. We will be the first to benefit from the effects of these spring cleaning and beautification activities,” declared Mr. Labrecque.

It should be noted that more than 500 STM employees are responsible for the cleanliness of 68 métro stations, 759 métro cars, 1 600 buses and the various buildings containing its installations. As for the maintenance of the 3000 bus shelters located on the island of Montréal, this responsibility is shared by the STM, Ville de Montréal and CBS.
