For better customer experience

Montréal, August 19, 2020 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is beginning the gradual rollout of a new version of its mobile website today in an effort to improve the customer experience for its users. The site should be fully rolled out in the next few weeks.

Each year, customers visit the STM web site 24 million times from mobile devices, accounting for about 80% of total visits. The new version of the mobile site was designed to allow quick viewing of schedules and nearby routes, a need expressed by 86% of customers in preliminary testing.

The new mobile site has a user experience similar to an app and includes several new features:

  • Real-time bus occupancy levels let customers make informed decisions about their trips
  • Optional location settings and network map on the home screen
  • Schedules viewable at a glance
  • Ability to add favorites (buses or locations)
  • Search tool now available on all pages
  • Site accessibility for those using screen readers

Real-time bus occupancy levels provide additional information to customers during lockdown lifting across the bus network. The occupancy rate is associated with each bus and is displayed on the map when the customer consults the schedule of a line. It lets you know whether the number of people on the next bus will allow physical distancing, whether it will be possible to sit or whether there are only standing places. This information is also available on the STM’s partner app, Transit, and will soon be available on the Chrono app.
