Through its business subsidiary, Transgesco s.e.c., Société de transport de Montréal, in collaboration with Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal and Coopérative d´habitation Le-Havre-Frontenac, wishes to undertake its first mixed use, real estate project in the Frontenac sector.

As such, a call for proposals will be issued tomorrow, inviting residential and commercial real estate developers to submit a project that would include:

  • about 110 affordable housing units, accredited by Accès Condos
  • 60 community housing units, as part of the Accès Logis program
  • A potential for adding another 80 private housing units
  • 25,700 sq.ft. of commercial space
  • about 180 parking spaces

Bounded by Du Havre, La Fontaine and Frontenac streets, the project site development will contribute to revitalizing this area of Ville-Marie borough. STM is currently the owner of the land being used as a parking lot for its Frontenac bus garage.

The invitation for proposals will be published through the Government of Québec’s electronic system for tenders, seao.ca. Developers have until July 7, 2017 submit a project. Afterwards, a selection committee will analyze all proposals it receives.

About the partners

Transgesco develops various forms of partnerships to generate commercial revenues by leveraging STM’s ridership and assets. For this project, it is working with the Société d’habitation et de développement de Montréal, a paramunicipal agency that is also a leader in the area of affordable housing and access to property, on which the Accès Condos program is based, and with the Coopérative d’habitation Le-Havre Frontenac, founded in 2010 by a group of citizens from the Sainte-Marie district who wanted to develop a housing project primarily for families.
