Montréal, July 21, 2021 – Having announced its new regional outreach strategy intended to help inspectors build a rapport with public transit users and their communities, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is proud to present its first unit of thirty special constables.
Montréal, le 21 juillet 2021 – Dans la foulée de l’annonce de la nouvelle stratégie de proximité régionale pour rapprocher les inspecteurs de leur clientèle empruntant le transport collectif et des communautés qui la compose, la Société de transport de Montréal (STM) est fière de présenter son premier contingent de trente constables spéciaux.
Montréal, July 8, 2021 — The Défi STM, presented thanks to a partnership between the Société de Transport de Montréal and the Canada Running Series, ended on a high note after inspiring more than 700 people to run, jog and walk during the month of June.
An exact sum of $22,278 was raised through registration fees and donations collected by participants, surpassing the original goal of $20,000. The generosity of Montrealers will benefit four charitable organizations supported by the STM: Centraide of Greater Montreal, Canadian Red Cross, PartenaireSanté Québec and Réchaud-bus.
Eligibility criteria
To establish its Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada ranking, Corporate Knights analysed the sustainability and social responsibility performance of 271 Canadian corporations with revenues over $1 billion.
All were evaluated and compared to international industry peers on a set of up to 24 environmental, social and governance indicators, using publicly available information. The best 50 were then retained. The STM scored first among international corporations of the passenger transportation sector.

Montréal, June 22, 2021 – As a renowned pioneer of electrification in North America, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is proud to have reached a new milestone in its surface network transformation by announcing that it will conduct a demonstration project to test its very first long-range electric minibus. The vehicle is intended for use in the paratransit network and was manufactured by Quebec-based supplier Girardin Blue Bird. The STM will be the first transit agency in Quebec to use a fully electric vehicle for paratransit trips.
