Members of the Syndicat des professionnels de la STM (SEPB 610) voted 91% in favour of the tentative agreement reached with the STM on December 31, as part of the negotiations to renew their collective agreement. This vote brings the number of ratified agreements in recent months to three.
“This is the third employee group to adopt a newly negotiated collective agreement. This reflects the joint efforts of both parties to remain within the financial framework through adjustments made directly within the agreement,” said STM Chief Executive Officer Marie‑Claude Léonard.
The STM Board of Directors has also already ratified the tentative agreement.
This union represents 800 employees working in a wide range of areas such as planning, urban planning, law, engineering, architecture, accounting, procurement, communications, training and real estate.
Negotiations with the maintenance union
Discussions have resumed in a small committee with the maintenance employees’ union (CSN) after more than 20 months of negotiations, 120 days of mediation and 45 days of conciliation.
“We are continuing good‑faith discussions with the other unions currently in negotiation in order to reach the same outcome for everyone’s benefit,” added Ms. Léonard. “Let me repeat: we are flexible on how to achieve our objective, but firm on the objective itself: we must improve our performance in order to deliver service at a lower cost for our customers.”
