Operational hours from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in both directions
Montréal, August 4, 2025 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) has announced extended operating hours for the existing reserved lane on Boulevard Newman, effective today.
From Monday to Friday, between 90e Avenue and Boulevard Angrignon/Des Trinitaires, the 3.1 km reserved bus and taxi lane on the Newman route in the LaSalle borough will operate from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. in both directions.
“Extending the operating hours of the reserved lane on Boulevard Newman will enhance service for public transit customers, benefiting nearly 26,000 trips—17,000 more than under the previous operating hours. A total of 24 bus lines will benefit from this measure, including 13 STM lines (101, 101 I, 106, 106 E, 110, 110 E, 113, 113 E, 114, 123, 123 E, 195 and 195 E) and 11 Exo lines (1, 21, 23, 25, 26, 31, 32, 90, 98, 111 and 556), with a frequency ranging from 2 to 6 minutes throughout the day. The reserved lane will also reduce the variability of travel times, which can range from 5 to 10 minutes on average (90e Avenue and Boulevard Angrignon/Des Trinitaires), making buses more punctual,” said Éric Alan Caldwell, chair of the STM board of directors.
“Extending the operating hours of the reserved lane on Boulevard Newman will improve the efficiency and predictability of travel along this critical route for many current and future users. The ARTM welcomes any initiative like this one, which will make public transit more appealing by offering customers a smoother experience,” added ARTM general manager Benoît Gendron.
“The LaSalle borough welcomes the extended operating hours of the Boulevard Newman reserved lane. It’s a step in the right direction, meeting the expectations of public transit users and promoting smoother travel that’s more in line with their daily reality. We hope this collaboration with the STM will simplify travel in our area,” added Nancy Blanchet, mayor of the LaSalle borough.
