STM’s Reaction to the Proposal of a New Mediation Team

Press release

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) accepts Minister Boulet’s proposal to begin a new chapter in negotiations with the maintenance workers’ union through the appointment of a renewed team of mediators. The goal is to reach an agreement that will benefit public transit users and all residents of the metropolitan region.

“What we want is to break the standstill, shift the dynamic with the help of a new third party, and move closer to an agreement,” said Marie-Claude Léonard, Chief Executive Officer of the STM. “Since the appointment of a new mediation team is the best solution proposed by the Minister at this stage of the negotiations, the STM offers its full cooperation.”

The STM remains firmly committed to the negotiation process. It considers it essential to involve new third-party actors who can proactively help both sides identify potential solutions that meet operational needs while respecting the financial framework set by funding partners.

Furthermore, the STM is committed to respecting the process and the confidentiality clauses associated with it.
