The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) would like to inform its customers that the May 25 strike announced by the maintenance employees' union will not take place, and that bus, metro and paratransit services will be maintained according to the usual schedule this Sunday.
The Tribunal administratif du travail (TAT) handed down its decision today, declaring that the essential services provided by the union are insufficient to ensure that public health and safety are not endangered in the event of a strike. As a result, it suspends the Syndicat du transport de Montréal (CSN) from exercising its right to strike until it can be demonstrated, to the satisfaction of the Tribunal, that essential services will be sufficiently maintained in the event of a strike. The STM remains on standby for a revised proposal from the union, and is available to negotiate on this matter.
In view of this decision, customers will be able to use bus, metro and paratransit services as usual this Sunday.
At the same time, discussions at the bargaining tables are continuing actively. The collective agreement for maintenance employees expired on January 4, 2025.
