Interruption on a section of the green line as a safety measure: STM takes stock

Press release

Interruption de service sur la ligne verte, entre les stations Lionel-Groulx et Frontenac, et ce, par mesure préventive et pour une période indéterminée

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM), wishes to inform its customers that it must interrupt service on the green line between Lionel-Groulx and Frontenac stations, as a preventive measure and for an indefinite period.

A water leak detected cracks in the vault in the tunnel between Berri-UQAM and Saint-Laurent, following an evaluation by his engineering team.

As the STM’s priority is to ensure the safety of its employees and its clientele, the STM asked the City of Montreal to divert heavy vehicle traffic between Berri and Saint-Laurent streets on Maisonneuve Boulevard. It also made the decision to stop the metro service between Lionel-Groulx and Frontenac stations immediately, until further notice, so that the teams could conduct a second assessment to assess the situation.

To mitigate the impact on customers in the face of this exceptional closure, the STM will set up a temporary shuttle bus service that will be available continuously from 5:00 p.m. until the passage of the last train between Berri-UQAM and Frontenac stations, until further notice. The shuttle will stop at each metro station on the Green Line on this section and will be available in both directions.

STM staff will be positioned at strategic locations in stations to direct customers to the orange line and interim surface service.

The customers are invited to plan their trips by consulting the communication tools at their disposal.
