Montréal, October 26, 2021 – The STM is pleased to announce that its Extra Connecte project has been named a finalist in Project of the year category for PMI-Montréal’s Élixir contest, an award that recognizes top initiatives in Quebec project management.
Extra Connecte, the real-time trip management system implemented in recent years for Transport adapté, both helps improve the customer experience by providing real-time service updates and optimizes the use of STM vehicles and financial resources.
“The STM is very proud to see one of our projects in the running for this prestigious prize,” says Luc Tremblay, Chief Executive Officer of the STM. “Beyond our expertise in the operation of bus, metro and paratransit networks, our teams also manage an impressive portfolio of projects to develop our networks and ensure their longevity for current and future customers alike.”
In their deliberations, the members of the jury for the Élixir awards focused mainly on project outcomes related to cost and turnaround time, originality, complexity, the intrinsic value of the project management techniques applied and any unexpected challenges that gave teams the opportunity to truly raise the bar.
The STM has received the Élixir Project of the Year award on two occasions, once for the Stinson bus garage (2015) and once for the AZUR metro car acquisition project (2018). The transit provider was also one of three finalists for the PMI-International contest in 2019.
With this contest, PMI-Montréal is celebrating the excellence of project management professionals. The finalists have all distinguished themselves by applying best practices in project management every step of the way.
The STM is also a finalist in the Palmares category, which highlights the contributions of innovative projects in creating change that benefits the community, for its maintenance time solution SAP-Horo. This innovation was created to centralize the time management of some 2,500 maintenance employees in a single tool, while providing a more integrative, efficient and user-friendly experience. The 2021 winners will be announced on November 18.
