Lane closings on the Jacques-Cartier bridge: the STM will increase service on the Yellow métro line

Montréal, July 16, 2012  –  Due to paving work on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge scheduled to take place over a six-day period during the construction holiday, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is appealing to the public to use the métro more often between July 23 and 30.

In view of these circumstances, the STM will increase service on the Yellow line during this period and provide customers with nine métro cars rather than the usual six normally available. This additional service represents an approximate increase of 50% in capacity that will surely accommodate customers who wish to use the métro over this period.

Information regarding roadwork on the Jacques-Cartier Bridge

Work carried out by Les Ponts Jacques Cartier et Champlain Incorporée (PJCCI) will take place during the construction holiday. During this period, Jacques-Cartier Bridge will be entirely repaved in six days:

  • From Sunday, July 22, at 2 a.m. until Tuesday, July 24, at 8 a.m.
  • From Saturday, July 28, at 2 a.m. to Monday, July 30, at 8 a.m.

One lane in each direction will remain open during paving activities. This work is contingent on weather conditions; motorists are invited to refer to the PJCCI blog www.pontjacquescartier.ca to verify that scheduled dates for planned roadwork are maintained.
