THE STM IN CONCERT WITH YOU

Press release

Montréal, July 28, 2011   A dynamic company, striving to get closer to an increasingly connected, trendy and environmentally-aware public, the Société de transport de Montréal is pleased to join forces with Evenko, for a fourth consecutive year, as part of the Osheaga, festival de musique et arts, held at Parc Jean-Drapeau July 29 – 31.

PUBLIC TRANSIT, YOUR BEST WAY OF GETTING AROUND TOWN AND TAKING ACTION FOR THE ENVIRONMENT
Many of you will be heading out to Parc Jean-Drapeau during these three days, especially as the festival has added a third day of programming for the first time this year. The best way of avoiding traffic and parking problems is to take public transit to and from the festival site.

Remember that by using public transit instead of a car for your return trip to the event, you are taking action in a way that has a significant impact on the environment. Indeed, that simple return trip produces the same environmental benefit as that of a tree during an entire year. In the last year alone, public transit had the same environmental benefit as the entire forest of trees on Mount-Royal times 2000 ! Now imagine the impact produced by thousands of passengers….

PURCHASE YOUR FARE CARD IN ADVANCE
For those who do not already have a monthly pass or valid STM unit fares on an OPUS card, you can purchase your return fares in advance, to avoid lineups or, if you are staying in Montreal for a few days, a one-day fare card for $8 or a three-day pass for $16. Both entitle you to unlimited travel throughout the STM bus and métro network. These fare cards are available at all times from automatic fare vending machines in all métro stations since August 1, 2010. For more information about these fare cards, go to the STM website at http://www.stm.info/tarification/1a3jours.htm

THE STM IN CONCERT WITH YOU
During these three days, the STM will present activities that take you off the beaten path:

  • At the Funambus, the friendly bus recycled and converted into a rest area and activity zone, you can discover the STM’s video game, CROC EN BUS;
  • On the stairs up the hill, urban artists will create a work, live, depicting our Society in Motion.
