The STM provides easy access to Montréal’s museums,
while showcasing glass artworks from the métro in the Funambus on May 30
Montréal, May 4, 2010 – For Montréal Museums Day next May 30, Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will again offer this year a shuttle service, making easier for participants to travel to the four corners of the city on their way to discovering art and culture. « The Montréal métro is in a class of its own because of the diversified architectural styles of its stations and of the impressive collection of public works of art it owns. I encourage as many people as possible to take advantage of the free shuttles at their disposal to go discover the wealth of art inside Montréal’s museums. I also take this opportunity to invite all Montrealers to come discover the numerous creations by renowned artists who designed glass works of art for the metro, in the form of reproductions in our Funambus. Recycled from a bus into a promotional and hospitality area, Funambus will be set up at UNIPRIX stadium for the event,’ declared STM chairman Michel Labrecque. Shuttle buses heading to the 30 participating museums will depart from UNIPRIX stadium at 285 Faillon Ouest. The meeting place is set close to De Castelnau métro station. Altogether, 45 buses will be assigned to six routes specially designed for the event. Shuttle service is free of charge from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. from UNIPRIX stadium, with the last departure for the museums at 4:30 p.m. Visitors who prefer to not use the shuttle buses can still take part in the event by using the regular bus and métro network, as most participating museums are already accessible by public transit. They must however present a valid transit fare. STM invites clients to pay special attention to the 80 or so works of art featured inside the métro. By calling A U-T-O-B-U-S (514 288-6287), visitors can obtain bus timetables at their stop. For all other information, they can call STM●INFO (514 786-4636). More transit related information is available from the STM website (www.stm.info). – 30 –
