More service on five bus routes in Ahuntsic-Cartierville borough 35 new departures during weekday rush hour

Montréal, April 24, 200
9 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to remind clients that, last January, it added more bus service during weekday rush hour on several of the network’s busiest routes, including the 45 – Papineau, 64 – Grenet, 69 – Gouin, 121 – Sauvé/Côte-Vertu and 171 – Henri-Bourassa.

“Thanks to investments by Transports Québec and Ville de Montréal, who are jointly and equally funding the service improvement programme, the STM is able to offer more bus service, for the benefit of transit users,” declared Marvin Rotrand, vice chairman of the STM board of directors. “By adding about 10% more service during morning and afternoon peak periods, the STM buses are running more frequently, while passengers enjoy improved comfort.”

“I must give credit to Normand Parisien, president of Transport 2000, for raising awareness among the many stakeholders involved. The residents of Ahuntsic-Cartierville will benefit from this enduring partnership with the STM, because bus service, used by everyone, was increased considerably, which in turn improves the quality of life of our citizens,” added Marie-Andrée Beaudoin, mayor of Ahuntsic-Cartierville Borough.

In 2008, the STM also increased the level of bus service during off-peak periods in Ahuntsic-Cartierville, on the 54 – Charland/ Chabanel, 140 – Fleury, 159 – Métrobus Henri-Bourassa and 460 – Métropolitaine bus routes.
