Carifiesta parade and L'International des feux Loto-Québec
The STM increases métro service and adjusts bus service

Montreal, July 5, 2007 - The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will boost métro service next Saturday, July 7, for L’international des feux Loto-Québec fireworks competition and the Carifiesta parade, by adding trains on the
1 – Green, 2 – Orange and 4 – Yellow lines. Because these events generate a significant increase in métro ridership, no bicycles will be allowed as of 10 a.m. until métro closing time.

The STM recommends that métro users purchase their return ticket ahead of time to avoid waiting in line, as ridership levels are usually much heavier after such an event than before. For enthusiasts who would like to see the fireworks display from La Ronde, the best way to get there once the Jacques-Cartier bridge has been closed off is to take the 4 – Yellow métro line to Jean-Drapeau station. From there, the 167 – Les Îles bus, heading towards La Ronde, will take them directly to the amusement park’s entrance.

Bus service

As the Carifiesta parade will be held in the streets of Montréal, some of the STM’s bus routes will be modified. As a result, there will be no service at all on both the 15 – Sainte-Catherine and 150 – Ren-Lvesque bus lines from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The following bus routes will also be deviated throughout the day, as indicated, either for the parade or for the Jazz Festival:

  • 14 – Amherst (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

  • 30 – Saint-Denis/Saint-Hubert (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

  • 55 – Boulevard Saint-Laurent (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.)

  • 57 – Pointe-Saint-Charles (11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

  • 61 – Wellington (1 a.m. to 4:30 p.m)

  • 66 – The Boulevard (7 a.m. to 2:30)

  • 80 – Avenue du Parc (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

  • 107 – Verdun (1 a.m. to 3 p.m)

  • 129 – Cte-Sainte-Catherine (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.)

  • 165 – Cte-des-Neiges (7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

  • 166 – Queen Mary (7 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.)

  • 168 – Cité-du-Havre (1 a.m. to 4:30 p.m)

In the evening, several bus routes travelling south of Sherbrooke street, between Papineau and Frontenac, will inevitably be slowed down because of the fireworks display. Buses assigned to the 168 – Cité-du-Havre route will not have access to Cité du Havre from 10:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

As for the 169 – Île Ronde bus route, service will be suspended as of 7:50 p.m., because the Jacques-Cartier bridge will be closed. Finally, the 10 – De Lorimier, 30 – Saint-Denis/Saint-Hubert, 34 – Sainte-Catherine and 94 – D’Iberville bus routes will be deviated between 8 pm and 11:30 pm.

When planning their transportation to any of these events, transit users can call
