News

From April 22 to May 1, the STM will provide a shuttle service between the airport and the different hotels and event athletic facilities

Montréal, April 22, 2022 – For the 39th year running, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is partnering with the Défi sportif AlterGo, a high-profile international event that brings together elite and aspiring athletes with various disabilities. As part of this partnership, the STM will provide the majority of the transportation to the athletes, chaperones and volunteers involved, contributing to the event’s success.

From April 22 to May 1, the STM will provide a maximum of 670 hours of shuttle service between the airport and the different hotels and event athletic facilities, using resources from both its paratransit and regular services to do so.

The STM has been the event’s official transit provider since 1993 and recognizes the importance of showing the health benefits of taking public transit while promoting dynamic representations of the disabled people taking part in the competition.

Some 4,000 elite and aspiring athletes with disabilities will come together for the 2022 Défi sportif AlterGo, competing in 12 sports at seven different facilities in Montréal and Longueuil.

More than a transit provider

In addition to providing transportation to athletes, the STM will be contributing to the Défi sportif AlterGo’s visibility, sharing content in internal communications, on social media and in the free newspapers distributed in the Montréal métro. The STM will also sponsor a trophy, have representatives attend medal ceremonies and donate gifts for volunteers.
