The STM is pleased with the agreement in principle between the Quebec government and the City of Montréal.

The STM is pleased with the agreement in principle between the Quebec government and the City of Montréal. This agreement will ensure the funding of major projects for the STM and its customers, particularly projects related to the extension of the Blue line and including the installation of platform barriers, the implementation of a new train control system on the Blue line, and a new attachment centre in the northwest section of the métro network.

The changes announced today will not impact STM project implementation or schedules, but will rather ensure funding for these projects, as they will be added to the Québec Infrastructure Plan.

The agreement also provides for the funding of a structuring link in the form of streetcar service between downtown Montréal and Lachine. This project will join the Notre-Dame Street and east Montréal streetcar projects as well as the Quebec City structuring public transit network project, consolidating the prominent position of public transit in Quebec.
