Elevators in operation at du Collège station

News

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will put two elevators into service at du Collège station tomorrow.

The work began in winter 2017 and cost $10 million. The project required expanding the north entrance building to add elevators that link the train platforms to the mezzanine and the mezzanine to the entrance at street level.

The project to make the station universally accessible follows in the wake of the decision to build a new underground garage near the Côte-Vertu station, which will result in the station being temporarily closed in summer 2020. As part of the mitigation measures, it was decided to install elevators at du Collège station to minimize the impact on transit users.

About 10,000 people travel through du Collège station every day.

Accessible stations

The STM’s métro system now has 13 accessible stations: Montmorency, de la Concorde, Cartier, Henri-Bourassa, Jean-Talon, Rosemont, Berri-UQAM, Champ-de-Mars, Place-d’Armes, Lionel-Groulx, Snowdon, du Collège and Côte-Vertu on the Orange line. Work is currently under way at Vendôme, Honoré-Beaugrand, Jean-Talon (Blue line) and Jean-Drapeau stations.
