My Alerts The Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM) has announced the establishment of a Metropolitan Paratransit Planning Center, which the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) will gradually begin operating starting in 2027.
The STM will thus gradually take over the operation of paratransit services throughout the ARTM’s entire territory.
“The STM is pleased to be able to contribute to the optimization of public transit in the metropolitan region and to be gradually responsible for providing paratransit services in the region. This major milestone demonstrates not only the expertise and recognized quality of service of our employees in providing paratransit, but also the ability of transit agencies to rethink their business models and find new ways of doing things. Already, the STM’s assumption of responsibility for Laval’s clientele, effective January 2026, demonstrates our ability to expand our services and adapt in order to offer the same quality of service to all clients, and we intend to do the same for the entire metropolitan clientele,” emphasized Marie-Claude Léonard, Executive Director of the STM.
