The STM wishes to remind its customers that it will be free to access the métro network from seven stations in downtown Montréal—Peel, McGill, Place-des-Arts, Saint-Laurent, Berri-UQAM, Champ-de-Mars and Place-d’Armes—tomorrow, Saturday and Sunday. This exceptional measure, implemented by the City of Montréal in collaboration with the ARTM and the STM, will apply every Saturday, Sunday and holiday until September 5, 2022.
La STM rappelle qu’il sera possible d’accéder gratuitement au métro de Montréal à partir de sept stations du centre-ville - Peel, McGill, Place-des-arts, Saint-Laurent, Berri-UQAM, Champ-de-Mars et Place-d'Armes - demain, samedi et dimanche. Il en sera de même pour les autres jours fériés et fins de semaine jusqu’au 5 septembre 2022, en vertu d’une mesure exceptionnelle mise en place par la Ville de Montréal en collaboration avec l’ARTM et la STM.
Ce nouveau garage permet d’ajouter 10 espaces de stationnement pour les trains du métro et d’avoir un équilibre de chaque côté de la ligne orange. Grâce à cette infrastructure, il sera possible d’assurer une augmentation de l’offre de service pouvant aller jusqu’à 25 % aux heures de pointe sur la ligne orange et de soutenir la croissance de l’achalandage, notamment en vue du prolongement de la ligne bleue.
Trois bâtiments de surface ont également été construits dans le cadre de ce projet :
The new garage adds 10 métro train spaces, balancing out the storage capacity on either end of the Orange line. The infrastructure will enable the STM to boost service on the Orange line by 25% during peak periods and support increased ridership due in part to the ongoing Blue line extension.
As part of the project, three above-ground structures were also built:
Bus, métro and paratransit customers are advised to stay well informed to prepare for these changes.

Zones and modes of transportation
Created by artist Chloé Desjardins, the piece was installed during accessibility upgrades at the station. Titled Perspective, the sculpture reflects the opposition between transparency and opacity, as well as some of the principles developed by celebrated German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, whose international style influenced the architect of Jolicoeur station, Claude Boucher.
Réalisée par l’artiste Chloé Desjardins dans le cadre des travaux de mise en accessibilité de la station, la sculpture Perspective reflète l’opposition entre la transparence et l’opacité, ainsi que certains principes expérimentés par le célèbre architecte allemand Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, dont le style international a inspiré l’architecte de la station Jolicœur, Claude Boucher.
“The STM has a wide range of infrastructure and equipment in place and is rolling out tools to improve universal accessibility in its bus and métro networks, as well as to promote their use by customers with functional limitations to meet all their travel needs,” said Laurence Parent, Vice-Chair of the STM Board of Directors. “The goal of this awareness day is to showcase what the STM is doing in terms of accessibility, but also to identify any areas that need improvement.”
