ONSET OF COLD WEATHER : TAKING ACTION TO SUPPORT THE HOMELESS IN THE MONTRÉAL MÉTRO

With the onset of cold weather, Philippe Schnobb, Société de transport de Montréal (STM) board chair, and Stéphanie Gareau, Société de développement social (SDS) board chair, with Rosannie Filato, executive committee member responsible for homelessness, and several partners and community stakeholders in attendance, presented the measures being implemented as part of the Pôle de services en itinérance (PSI) initiative to support people who are experiencing homelessness.

As part of the iBUS project, bus schedules in real time are now available to the public with a beta version of the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) web and mobile sites, as well as with the Transit app.

Using the Itinerum mobile app developed by Concordia University, Société de transport de Montréal (STM) and BIXI, in collaboration with the city of Montréal, are today initiating a study on combined mobility, a concept that encompasses several modes of transportation related to active and mass transit: bus and métro, personal bike and BIXI, walking, car-sharing, taxis, etc.

The Mayor of Montréal, Mr. Denis Coderre, the Mayor in function of Namur, Ms. Anne Barzin, and the Chair of the Board of Directors of Société de transport de Montréal (STM), Mr. Philippe Schnobb, are proud to announce the presentation of the Namur legacy to mark the 375th anniversary of the founding of Montréal. This legacy consists of a series of panels featuring the historic ties uniting the two cities, installed along the platforms of Montréal’s Namur métro station.

With only twenty days until the opening of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP)’s 2017 Global Public Transport Summit, the two host organizations for the event – the AMT (Agence métropolitaine de transport) and the STM (the Société de transport de Montréal) – have outlined some of the highlights of its program for this 62nd international congress that will be held at the Montreal Convention Centre from May 15 to 17. The theme for this year’s summit is LEAD the TRANSITion, and the AMT and STM are inviting Montrealers to come take advantage of the Place au Transport event that will be held at Jean-Paul Riopelle Square.  

Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon and the STM step up their support for runners

Competitor Canada, the company behind the popular Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series, and the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) have signed a three-year partnership agreement regarding the Rock ‘n’ Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon & 1/2 Marathon. In 2017, this collaboration will make it much easier for the event’s 37,000 or more participants to get around as they will receive an STM transit pass valid for the day of their race.

L’Agence métropolitaine de transport (AMT) informe sa clientèle qu’elle mettra fin au service du Trainbus 935 le 27 mars prochain. Afin d’assurer aux usagers un service adéquat dans l’axe qui était auparavant desservi par le Trainbus 935, la Société de transport de Montréal (STM) annonce qu’elle bonifiera l’offre de service de la ligne d’autobus 80 ‒ Avenue du Parc, en concordance avec l’horaire des trains de la ligne Saint-Jérôme circulant pendant la période de pointe du matin.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing three service enhancements for several bus lines. As part of the improvements slated for 2017, these will be rolled out starting this summer to improve the customer experience.

Incident on the orange line - Progress report for January 18, 2017

As a follow-up to the breakdown in métro service that occurred on Saturday, January 14 on a portion of the Orange line, Société de transport de Montréal is making public an initial progress report on its investigation into the problem found with the negative collector shoes on both MR-73 and AZUR trains.

The Société de développement social (SDS), in collaboration with the Société de transport de Montréal (STM), is proud to announce that service points for the homeless in five downtown métro stations have been renewed. The extended partnership will make it possible to go on responding to the growing needs of the homeless taking shelter inside the métro.

Starting next January 9, commuters riding the 171 – Henri-Bourassa bus line will enjoy enhanced service on weekdays during morning and afternoon rush hour periods. This move is in line with STM’s stated commitment to improving the services provided to customers.
