Mes alertes Montréal, April 23, 2013 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform its clientele that the Jolicoeur metro station will be closed from May 6 to August 25 for major repairs. Given the extent of the work and the amount of demolition to be done, it will be necessary to completely close the station for sixteen weeks.
To minimize the inconvenience to our clientele, a shuttle service will be implemented (line 809 - special). From 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m., shuttles will run between Jolicoeur and Verdun stations (every three minutes during peak hours and every six minutes during off-peak hours) and between Jolicoeur and Monk stations (every 12 minutes at all times). The shuttle routes are available on the STM Web site.
Regular bus service will continue as usual, although some stops near the construction site may be moved. Signs will be posted alongside the construction site with clear directions. In addition, during the first week of construction, STM employees will be on hand to answer questions.
The Jolicoeur station was opened in 1978, and repairs have become necessary since some components have reached the end of their useful lifetime. More specifically, the work to be done consists in demolishing and rebuilding structural slabs in the entrance and concrete slabs under the tracks, repairing concrete beams above the tracks, modernizing pavements, replacing steps, refurbishing windows, upgrading internal and external lighting, repairing sidewalks, and various electrical and mechanical repairs.
Construction will be carried out over the summer months since that is the least busy travel time, with the station scheduled to re-open at the start of the school year.
This work is being carried out as part of the Réno-Infrastructures program, in which the Quebec Ministère des Transports and the STM are financial partners.
