Security Agent for a Day
Montréal, May 23, 1997 - Marylin Jacques, 10, of the Marie-Reine des Coeurs elementary school and Étienne Rochette-Salmont, 11, of the Sainte-Claire elementary school lived a unique experience on May 21 by becoming security agents for a day. Indeed, wearing an official uniform and accompanied by an agent, they patrolled the métro network from 8 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon.
Services Modified during the Festival de la Santé
Montréal, April 28, 1997 - The STCUM wishes to inform its ridership that modifications will be brought to several bus routes on Sunday May 18 to allow the Festival de la Santé to be held in the streets of Montréal. There will therefore be no service on the following bus routes:

Work Completed on Métro Line 4 - Yellow
Montréal, April 16, 1997 - The STCUM wishes to inform its customers that restoration work on the line 4 - yellow tunnel has been completed. This happens to be very good news for commuters on the Berri-UQAM / Longueuil line since they can take advantage of the return to regular Saturday and Sunday service three weekends sooner than expected. The use of new work methods accounts in great part for the speed of the work.
The Montréal Métro
60 Million Dollars for Renovation of Stations
Montréal, March 27, 1997 - News that the Québec Government had agreed to cover 30 million dollars of the estimated 60 million dollars cost of the renovation program of the métro stations and Control Centre was very favourably received by the STCUM. The other half of the costs will be divided equally between the STCUM and the Metropolitan Transportation Agency.
Métro line 4 - yellow
Work Begins on March 22
Montréal, March 19, 1997 - As of Saturday March 22, the STCUM will continue the restoration of the métro's line 4 - yellow tunnel. This workrequires the closing of the line between Montréal and Longueuil on Saturdays and Sundays until May 4, as well as on Easter Monday on March 31, 1997.
Modification of Bus Routes Due to the Saint-Patrick Day's Parade Sunday, March 16
{C}Montréal, March 13, 1997{C} - The STCUM wishes to inform its ridership that changes will be made to some hours in the itinerary of several bus routes due to the 173rd Saint-Patrick Day's Parade which will be held in downtown Montréal on Sunday March 16, 1997.

Service Increased on Métro Lines 1 and 2
Montréal, March 9, 1997 - The STCUM wishes to inform its customers that as of March 10, it will increase service on lines 1 and 2 of the métro during rush hour. This measure will reduce the crowding on board the trains thus making the ride more comfortable for commuters.
Laurier Station
Reopening of the Laurier Street Access
Montréal, March 7, 1997 - The STCUM wishes to inform its customers that the secondary Laurier Station access, located on Laurier Street, will reopen on Monday, March 10 as the restoration work on the stairs will have been completed. These renovations were done within the framework of the historical buildings preservation program.
