How do I know if I need to renew my card?

Look for the expiry date on your card. You are entitled to pay the student reduced fare until that date.

What is the Tour ?

Our photographers will be touring Montréal schools, CEGEPs, and universities so students can renew their reduced fare OPUS cards! It’s fast and easy!

What should I bring?

Have with you:

  • your completed Application form for a registered photo OPUS card signed by parental authority;
  • $6 in cash to cover the cost of the card;
  • proof of age (healthcare card, school identification card showing date of birth, birth certificate or passport).

Your OPUS card will be valid until October 31 of the year the child turns 12.

Children 6 to 11 can pay the reduced fare with the exact amount in cash on the bus. They can also purchase 1- or 2-trip fares from a fare booth attendant in a métro station, even if they don’t have a registered photo OPUS card.

If you have reduced mobility, you may also go to the Customer service centre or a point of service. If you are a Transport adapté customer 6 to 15 years old, your Transport adapté ID card on OPUS already bears the mention « tarif réduit ». As such, you do not need to get a registered photo OPUS card.

Have with you:

  • $14 in cash to cover card fees;
  • proof of age (healthcare card, school identification card showing date of birth, birth certificate or passport).

As such, you do not need to get a registered photo OPUS card.

Have with you:

  • be under the age of 26 on October 31 of current year.

    If you are a student at Collège Internationnal des Marcellines, you must obtain your proof of school attendance directly from your school's administrative office. 

  •  $15 in cash to cover card fees;
  • proof of age (driver's license, healthcare card, school identification card showing date of birth, passport or driver’s license).

Your OPUS will be valid for one (1) year (check the expiry date on your card).

If you turn 26 after October 31, your fare privilege will end August 31 of the following year.

If you have reduced mobility, you may also go to the Customer service centre or a point of service.

The reduced fare is offered to full-time students at an institution recognized by Quebec’s Ministère de l’Éducation, du Loisir et du Sport (MELS). You must be 25 or younger on October 31.

When a card is issued during the photo ID tour, the fares charged on the old card are not automatically transferred to the new registered photo ID OPUS card. To transfer valid fares, go to the Customer service centre or a point of service.

Concordia students

Concordia University students can now renew their OPUS card online. 

If you study at Concordia University, you can renew your OPUS card directly online at concordia.ca/opus.

Before requesting a card online, be sure you meet these criteria:

  • Hold a valid Concordia University student ID card
  • Be a full time student at Concordia University
  • Be under 26 years of age as of October 31, 2015
  • Have a valid mailing address in the province of Quebec

You must go to the photo studio if:

  • You are a full-time student but at two different academic institutions
  • You do not have a mailing address in Québec
  • You are a Transport adapté customer

Renew your photo ID card at the photo studio

You missed the tour!

You can go to the STM photo studio at the bus station located at 1717 Berri Street, Montréal (Berri-UQAM metro station).

Cash only.

 The cost is $15 for students 12 to 25 years old and $6 for students 6 to 11 years old.

Application form for a registered photo OPUS card with the official seal of your school (for those under 14, just signed by your parent or legal guardian).

Proof of age (healthcare card, school identification card showing date of birth, passport or driver’s license).

WARNING! :

Special procedure for the issuing of reduced fare OPUS cards at the STM photo studio for few institutions

From now on at the STM photo studio, only electronic proof of school attendance (tablets, smart phones, computer) will be accepted from students at the following institutions. It is therefore no longer necessary to print it out.

Please ensure your proof of full-time attendance is for the fall 2014 school term.

At the STM photo studio, students will have to access their school’s portal and show the proof to the employee. If the student doesn't have an electronic device, a tablet will be available for use.

On card-renewal day, remember to bring the duly-filled application form for a registered photo OPUS cardwith you.

Tips

If you are entering high school or reaching the age of 12, you will no doubt want to have a photo ID OPUS card issued before the school term begins. Go to the photo studio as of August 1.

If you decide to go to the photo studio, choose a less busy time such as the weekend.
