Your photo OPUS card stays valid until October 31, 2018.

Frequently asked questions

Who is eligible for the reduced student fare?

Users eligible for the student fare are students who are registered full-time for the fall semester 2017 and/or the following semesters in an educational institution recognized by the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur (MEES) regardless of their age. Those students will be able to travel at the applicable reduced student fare.

Is there a deadline to procure the reduced student fare photo OPUS card?

There is no deadline. If you already have a reduced fare OPUS card, it will expire on the date mentioned on the card. It is still possible to have your card issued after that date, but you will not longer be entitled to the reduced fare until you can make a new request for a card.

I am currently considered to be a part-time student for the fall term, but full-time for the winter term. Can I obtain the reduced rate right away?

No, at the time of the application, the student must be enrolled full-time.

As proof of full-time studies, we accept:

  • Certificate with fall session: from August 1 to January 5
  • Certificate with winter session: from December 20 to July 31
  • Certificate with summer session: from April 1 to July 31

I am a part-time student at two different academic institutions.

If you are a part-time student at two different academic institutions, and that your total number of classes or credits is equivalent to a full-time status (and that you fulfill all the eligibilty criteria), you can ask for a photo OPUS card.

I am a full-time student and I would like to know if I can show up soon with my fall school schedule as proof of student status to obtain the reduced fare OPUS card.

The schedule is not accepted as proof of school enrollment. Two options are available to you:

You can go to the STM site at the following address to obtain the form stm.info/opusetudiants ; or, if your institution offers proof of school enrollment online, you only have to prove this when you visit the Photo studio. A tablet and Internet access are made available to you on site.

Can I obtain the photo OPUS card at the studio, upon presentation of my student card only (in replacement of the form)?

No. The form is compulsory if you are age 16 and over. You will find the form Application for OPUS Card with Photo on our website stm.info/opusetudiants

If my school enrollment certificate is available online, must I also have the STM form stamped by my school?

No. Only the online certificate will be necessary.

Is it possible to renew my OPUS student card at a point of service?

No. The renewal can be done only at the photo studio located in the bus terminal or if the photographer visits your institution.Click here to to see if your school takes part in the OPUS Tour and mark your calendar.
If your school is not listed, go to the Photo Studio.

I missed the photographer’s visit to my school. Where can I renew my card?

At the photo studio located in the bus terminal. Bring one piece of photo ID containing your date of birth, and proof of full-time school enrollment if you are age 16 or over.

Can I have a new OPUS card issued during the STM photographer’s visit to my educational institution, or is this only to renew the OPUS card?

Yes. The school visit allows a new OPUS card to be renewed or issued.

THE 2017 OPUS TOUR IS OVER!

My school isn’t part of the OPUS card renewal STM photographer’s visit. Is it possible to do this at another school near me?

No. Each institution structures the photographer’s visit according to its own students and group schedules and does not accept students from another institution.

THE 2017 OPUS TOUR IS OVER!

My photo OPUS card expires on 31-10-2017 and there are still trips on it. When the STM photographer visited my school,  I received a new card. Can I transfer the trips from the old photo OPUS card to the new one so I don’t lose them?

Keep your old photo OPUS card and go to one of the following 6 points of service :

  • Berri-UQAM métro station
  • Lionel-Groulx métro station
  • Jean-Talon métro station
  • Honoré-Beaugrand métro station
  • Côte-Vertu métro station
  • Fairview Terminus

N.B.: If your old OPUS card is at the regular fare (WITHOUT photo), keep it and use it until the fares run out, parallel to your new photo OPUS card.
