Registered photo OPUS card - reduced fare

Registered photo OPUS card to pay the reduced fare.

The registered photo OPUS card is for students under the age of 26 and for persons 65 and over.

Your need to renew your registered photo OPUS card or wish to obtain one for the first time? Our Photo studio staff can help you with that 7 days a week.

What you need to know about reduced fares

To pay the reduced fare, your transit fares must be loaded on a registered photo OPUS card.

A photo OPUS card is always registered. That is your guarantee in the event your card is lost, damaged or stolen. A registered photo OPUS card allows you to have your card replaced along with any remaining valid fares that were on it when you reported it lost or stolen.

How do I know if I need to renew my card?

Look for the expiry date on your card. You are entitled to pay the student reduced fare until that date.

How to obtain a registered photo OPUS card:

Two ways:

1) At the STM Photo studio on or after August 1

or

2) Tour of educational institutions (elementary and high schools, CEGEPs, and universities)

When classes resume, an STM photographer visits certain educational institutions to issue photo OPUS cards.

A list of dates and locations will be available in July 2015.

When a card is issued during the photo tour, the remaining fares on the old card are not automatically transferred to the new registered photo OPUS card. To transfer valid fares, go to the Customer service centre or to a point of service.

Have with you:

  • your completed Application form for a registered photo OPUS card signed by parental authority;
  • $6 in cash to cover the cost of the card;
  • proof of age (healthcare card, school identification card showing date of birth, birth certificate or passport).

Your OPUS card will be valid until October 31 of the year the child turns 12.

Children 6 to 11 can pay the reduced fare with the exact amount in cash on the bus. They can also purchase 1- or 2-trip fares from a fare booth attendant in a métro station, even if they don’t have a registered photo OPUS card.

If you have reduced mobility, you may also go to the Customer service centre or a point of service. If you are a Transport adapté customer 6 to 15 years old, your Transport adapté ID card on OPUS already bears the mention « tarif réduit ». As such, you do not need to get a registered photo OPUS card.

PLEASE NOTE:

Special procedure for Issuing reduced fare OPUS cards at the STM photo studio for a few schools

For the STM Photo studio, only electronic proof of school attendance (tablets, smart phones, computer) will be accepted from students from these institutions. It is therefore no longer necessary to print it out.

At the STM Photo studio, students must access their school’s portal and show their proof of attendance to studio staff. Students should perform this task while waiting in line to expedite the process. If the student doesn't have an electronic device, a tablet will be available for use.

The Application for a photo OPUS card is always accepted.
