Montreal, May 24, 2007 - The Société de Transport de Montréal (STM) is proud to be associated with this, the 16th edition of Clean Air Day established by Transport 2000. In fact, the STM cannot help but share the objectives of a day such as this as it complements its vision for sustainable development.

Clean Air Day provides us with an ideal opportunity to reflect on the environmental impact of automobile use and on the importance of making responsible choices with regard to sustainable development », declared the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the STM, Mr. Claude Trudel.

« It is important for us to reflect on, among other things, what we can do in terms of the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions. In this respect, the STM is convinced that the use of public transit is an excellent means of contributing to the collective effort in this area, » added the Chairman.

In conclusion, keep in mind the recent announcement by the Société of its intention to use biodiesel fuel for its entire bus fleet and the arrival of biodiesel-electric hybrid propulsion buses, both evidence of its willingness to make even greener choices.
