Montréal, August 4, 2015 – With a view to improving service in the West Island, the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing improvements to its offer of shared taxi service in Île Bizard by adding hours of daytime service on weekdays and new taxi stops, starting next August 10.

« This is excellent news for Île Bizard residents insofar as the service will provide easier access to Roxboro-Pierrefonds commuter train station, Cégep Gérald-Godin and Terminus Fairview. The shared taxibus will be operational throughout the day, Monday to Friday, except on legal holidays, which means greater flexibility in terms of mobility », declared Philippe Schnobb, chaiman of the STM board of directors.

« We are pleased with the improvements made to shared taxibus service, as they will mainly benefit our citizens living on the outskirts of L’Île-Bizard. The expanded schedule of service will certainly be appreciated by our transit users », added Normand Marinacci, borough mayor for L'Île-Bizard–Sainte-Geneviève.

Offered in both directions, the service will now be available Monday to Friday, from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., and serve shared taxi stops on the way to the 207 – Jacques-Bizard / 407 – Express-île-Bizard terminus stop located at the corner of Chèvremont and Jacques-Bizard boulevards. Taxi runs will be synchronized with arrival and departure times for the 207 and 407 buses. In much the same way, the Complexe sportif Saint-Raphaël will be served in both directions, according to a set timetable, from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m., and again from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Shared taxi service is provided on request. Customers must absolutely reserve a seat at least 40 minutes in advance by calling 514-636-6666. To pay for their ride, customers must show a valid STM fare card. The STM reminds that twelve (12) other shared taxi services are also available: Baie d’Urfé, Côte-vertu Ouest (Saint-Laurent), Norman (Lachine), Parc industriel Lachine, Quartier Sainte-Marie (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue), Quartier Sainte-Marie – Terminus Macdonald, Technoparc Montréal (Saint-Laurent), Senneville, Gare Lachine, Gare Anjou – parc industriel and Gare Anjou – secteur résidentiel Rivière-des-Prairies, Gare Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Prairies.
