Origin of the name Georges-Vanier

Georges-Philias Vanier (1888-1967), military man, lawyer, and diplomat, served as Canada's ambassador to all Allied governments in exile in London during World War II. He was named Governor-General of Canada in 1959 and served until his death. He was born a short way from the street that is now named for him.
