Rue Beaubien's name recalls one of the large and
ancient French-Canadian families of Quebec, many of whose members undertook important
careers in politics, finance, and the liberal arts. In particular, Dr. Pierre Beaubien
owned a great deal of land in Outremont around the turn of the century.
