Press release

The Montréal agglomeration council has appointed Marie-Claude Baril, Borough Councillor for Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, to the STM Board of Directors.

The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) welcomes the appointment of Marie-Claude Baril, Borough Councillor for Rivière-des-Prairies–Pointe-aux-Trembles, to its Board of Directors effective March 21, 2024.

“The STM Board of Directors is delighted to welcome Ms. Baril,” says Board Chair Éric Alan Caldwell. “Her unwavering commitment to the environment and her in-depth knowledge of the key issues concerning Montréal’s development make her an ideal partner to advance sustainable mobility in our community.”

Baril was appointed by the agglomeration council to replace Gracia Kasoki Katahwa, Mayor of Côte-des-Neiges–Notre-Dame-de-Grâce and STM board member since December 2021.
The STM extends its warmest thanks to Kasoki Katahwa for her dedication throughout her term, during which she chaired the board’s human resources committee.

As borough mayor, she was also invaluable in helping complete the Chemin Queen-Mary and Chemin de la Côte-Saint-Luc reserved lane projects, which have already improved the bus travel experience along these routes.

“Gracia Kasoki Katahwa helped move many issues forward by taking an active role in the board’s work,” says Caldwell. “In addition to playing a key role in Marie-Claude Léonard’s appointment as CEO of the STM, she was instrumental in advancing diversity and inclusion within the organization. On behalf of the entire board, I thank Ms. Kasoki Katahwa for her undeniable contributions to sustainable mobility.”
