Movin’On: World Summit on Sustainable Mobility – Participants get to experience Montréal’s multimodal mobility options

Press release

BIXI, Communauto and the STM are giving Movin'On summit participants the opportunity to fully experience Montréal’s multimodal mobility options.

Montréal, May 29, 2018 – BIXI, Communauto and the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) are pleased to partner with Movin’On, the World Summit on Sustainable Mobility, to be held in Montréal from May 30 to June 1, 2018. As partners, these organizations are giving summit participants the opportunity to fully experience Montréal’s multimodal mobility options.

The partnership will allow participants to try out BIXI’s self-serve bicycles and Communauto’s car sharing service, while having access to Greater Montréal’s entire public transit system thanks to close collaboration between the STM and the Autorité régionale de transport métropolitain (ARTM). The idea is to show participants how public, active and shared modes of transportation can be combined for efficient urban travel, whether they are used to get to the conference or visit Montréal.

“The STM is proud to be a leader of integrated mobility. And this partnership demonstrates to stakeholders from around the world that there is genuine cooperation between urban mobility players in Montréal, meaning we can promote more efficient and sustainable ways of getting around,” says Philippe Schnobb, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the STM.

“We are happy to partner with Movin’On and show that BIXI is now much more than a simple mode of transportation. It has become a fabulous way to travel freely in the city whenever and wherever you want or need to go,” says Christian Vermette, CEO, BIXI Montréal.

“Car sharing is an incredible way to complement public and active transit options. It encourages the use of all modes of transportation and breaks away from the reliance on doing everything by car. Montréal is among the cities where integrated mobility is developing the fastest. For this reason, we are extremely proud to be able to share this experience with Movin’On participants,” says Marco Viviani, Vice-President, Communauto.
