On November 25th, run your errands by bus or by métro,
either way, you’re good to go!
Montréal, November 15, 2010 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) invites Montrealers to use the métro and bus for their holiday shopping and benefit from attractive savings. The event, under the theme Faire ses courses en métro et en bus rapporte plus, will take place on November 25th, thanks to the participation of 285 businesses who will display the “Society in Motion” logo on their premises. The day before, on November 24, reusable bags sporting the “Society in Motion” colours will be distributed free of charge at locations to be announced shortly on the STM’s Internet site. Clients who pick up one of these bags will find inside a list of the 285 businesses that will be offering discounts throughout the day on November 25th. Those who shop at one of these retailers will be able to save on their purchases upon presentation of their OPUS card, their valid STM fare or the reusable bag. “We have implemented this new promotional campaign in collaboration with retailers on the main commercial arteries in Montréal. We are focused particularly on encouraging Montrealers to do their holiday shopping in Montréal and making them aware of the importance of doing their part for the environment by using public transit. Just as important is creating a lasting partnership with retailers we serve across the territory by inviting them to join a “Society in Motion,” declared Mr. Michel Labrecque, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the STM. Finally, it should be noted that the STM won the American Public Transportation Association’s 2010 award as Outstanding Public Transportation System in North America. This award was in recognition of the excellent results it achieved between 2007 and 2009 in terms of effectiveness and efficiency. – 30 –
