Montréal, May 7, 2010
Société de transport de Montréal (STM) wishes to inform clilents that Côte-Sainte-Catherine métro station must be closed temporarily so it may carry out major repairs. Access to the station will remain closed to clients at all times from May 17 to August 22 inclusively.

While the repair work is underway, métro trains will transit through Côte-Sainte-Catherine station at low speed without stopping. STM will implement a shuttle bus service running every five to eight minutes, during metro operating hours, between Snowdon, Côte-Sainte-Catherine and Plamondon stations, in both directions. The shuttle route is available on the STM website at www.stm.info, in the STM Works section. Signs will be posted on location to inform and direct transit users.

Repairs will consist mainly of demolishing the entrance building’s structural slab and pouring a new one, with the addition of a waterproofing membrane, repairing staircases and floor finishes, installing new windows, replacing the entrance building’s indoor and outdoor lighting, replacing the fire protection system, as well as resurfacing the asphalt and some outdoor landscaping.

Moreover, it will not be possible to obtain public transit fares at Côte-Sainte-Catherine station during renovations, the STM invites clients to purchase their fares in advance at another station.

The STM has taken every necessary measure to ensure public safety and that every effort has been made to minimize any work-related inconvenience.

The repair work is part of phase II of the Réno-Stations programme. Transport Québec and STM are financial partners in carrying out this programme.
