Schedule of essential services
if strike goes on next May 22

Montreal, May 18, 2007 - The Essential Services Council has rendered its decision regarding public transit services to be provided to clients should the Syndicat du transport de Montréal (CSN) go ahead and exercise its right to strike next May 22. As it stands, buses and métro will operate Monday to Friday, from 6 to 9 am, from 3:30 to 6:30 pm and from 11 pm to 1 am. On Saturdays and Sundays, they will run from 6 to 9 am, from 2 to 5 pm and again, from 11 pm to 1 am.

Paratransit services will be provided in full as usual; however, special school bus services will all be cancelled.

Transit users can consult the various information tools at their disposal, including the STM website at www.stm.info for useful transit information,  AUTOBUS
(514 288-6287) for bus timetables and STM-INFO (514 786-4636) for detailed travel directions. The métro’s first and last departure times will be posted on métro station entrance doors. Transit staff will also be strategically placed throughout the network to hand out schedules for essential services and assist clients with their commute.

Finally, negotiation sessions are still being held with the conciliator and the Syndicat du transport de Montréal (CSN) representing 2 200 maintenance workers. The STM hopes to avoid a strike and reach a negotiated settlement.
