Montréal, March 19, 2018 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announced a partnership with Suicide Action Montréal (SAM) to provide clients with available suicide intervention support solutions.
As of today, the STM is holding an awareness campaign on its metro network entitled “Suicide Action Montréal. A lifeline.” that runs until April 15, 2018. This poster campaign, which promotes the 1‑866‑APPELLE hotline, aims to inform clients that there are ways to reduce the risk of an action fraught with consequences.
The STM is also taking this opportunity to reiterate that clients witnessing a situation that could potentially jeopardize a person’s life are urged to report it as quickly as possible via the red phones in the assistance panels on metro platforms or to a metro staff member; this could be an inspector, a booth operator or a maintenance employee.
The SAM is an intervention agency whose mission is to prevent suicide by providing quality services to people who are suicidal, their families and those who work with them.
