The STM offers a new shared taxibus service at the parc Jean-Drapeau

Press release

New shared taxibus service at the parc Jean-Drapeau during winter time starting November 25, 2019

Montréal, November 18, 2019 – The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) is announcing the implementation of a new shared taxibus service at the parc Jean-Drapeau during winter time, starting November 25, 2019.

“The aim of this initiative is to provide a public transportation link between Jean-Drapeau station and places of interest on Île Notre-Dame and Île Sainte-Hélène, such as the Stewart Museum, Quartier des athlètes, the Olympic Basin and the Canadian Pavilion, located more than a kilometre from the métro station or a bus line. We take this opportunity to welcome the collaboration of the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau” says Philippe Schnobb, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the STM.

“The Société du parc Jean-Drapeau is happy to be able to offer this service to its visitors and employees. Shared taxibuses will make it easier to access the park’s workplaces and attractions and encourage people to discover its multiple facets: rich heritage, high-calibre athletic facilities, green spaces and cultural activities. This initiative, which also strengthens our partnership with the STM, is a direct result of the park’s sustainable mobility plan, developed together with Voyage Futé, a centre de gestion des déplacements, as part of our updated master plan,” said Ronald Cyr, General Manager of the Société du parc Jean-Drapeau.

This new reservation-only service will be operational each year, starting the day after Labour Day and ending on June 23. It will be in effect Monday to Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 7:15 p.m., except on legal holidays. The shared taxibus service will round out the service offered at Jean-Drapeau Park, since the 767 La Ronde/La Plage and 769 La Ronde lines will be operational only during the summer. Furthermore, the 777 Le Casino is in operation all year round to the Casino.

Customers will have to reserve a seat before each trip by phone or online, and must show a valid STM fare card, since cash is not accepted for shared taxibus service. From April 1 to November 30, reservations must be made at least 40 minutes before travel and from December 1 to March 31, reservations must be made at least 60 minutes before travel. Schedules and reservation conditions are available on the STM website (www.stm.info).

The STM offers several other shared taxibus services, namely at Baie-D’Urfé, Côte-Vertu Ouest (weekends), Anjou train station (industrial park), Anjou train station (residential area), Lachine train station, Rivière-des-Prairies train station (Pointe-aux-Prairies residential area), Île-Bizard, Norman Street (Lachine), Lachine industrial park, the Sainte-Marie neighbourhood (Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue), Senneville and the Montréal Technopark (Saint-Laurent). Starting November 25, the Rivière-des-Prairies train station service (Highway 40 area to Rivière-des-Prairies) will begin.
