To all students: STM photographers are visiting many schools and colleges to renew reduced fare OPUS cards

Until mid-October, STM’s team of photographers will be stopping at more than 150 academic institutions as part of a vast campaign to renew reduced fare OPUS cards for students. By obtaining a new card or quickly renewing it directly at their high school, cegep or university, students will have an easier time of it, avoiding last-minute line-ups.

Montréal, August 23, 2016 – Until mid-October, STM’s team of photographers will be stopping at more than 150 academic institutions as part of a vast campaign to renew reduced fare OPUS cards for students. By obtaining a new card or quickly renewing it directly at their high school, cegep or university, students will have an easier time of it, avoiding last-minute line-ups.

Last year, nearly 64,000 students took advantage of the OPUS Tour to renew or obtain their student reduced fare card. The cards are valid for one year, until October 31 the following year of purchasing it, making it essential to renew it each year. The reduced fare is almost equal to a 40% discount over the regular fare.

Photo session dates
To find out about the OPUS Tour’s schedule, simply go to STM’s websiteTo avoid forgetting when the photo session is scheduled for your school, the STM offers an online tool for a reminder. By signing up, students will be reminded by email about the photo session’s time and date.

In addition to making it easier on themselves, students who sign up for the reminder before September 30 automatically earn a chance to win a grand prize consisting of one year of free transportation with STM transit.

Reduced fare requirements
To get a reduced fare OPUS card, students must have the following items with them:

  • Cash ($14 at school, $15 at the photo studio)
  • Proof of full-time student status
  • Proof of age (under the age of 26 at October 31 of current year)
