The 24 heures newspaper will be distributed in Montréal’s métro network as of January 2011

Montréal, December 16, 2010
The Société de transport de Montréal (STM) announces an agreement with Sun Media Corporation for exclusive distribution of the 24 H newspaper in the Montréal métro network, Monday to Friday, starting January 3. This agreement covers a period of five years and could be extended depending on the terms of the contract, which are still being finalized.

Two companies submitted an offer following a public call for submissions launched on September 27. Sun Media Corporation submitted the offer that was most beneficial for the STM and its clientele. In addition to generating major revenue, this agreement will enable the STM to maximize its communications through access to its partner’s various media platforms. Of course, the STM will maintain its special communications link with its clientele by including a page of content in each issue.

This agreement was concluded through the STM’s commercial subsidiary, whose objective is to market the Société’s assets so as to increase non-fare revenue while ensuring that public transit users benefit from a superior experience and value-added services.

Lastly, it should be noted that the Métro newspaper has held the exclusive distribution rights for a free daily in the métro network since March 2001.
