Again this year, the STM joins in
the mobilization and awareness campaign by
Défi Climat


Montréal, March 10, 2010
For a third consecutive year, the STM is proud to take part in the DÉFI CLIMAT awareness campaign held in the workplace next March 22 to April 23. As with earlier editions, the STM will encourage participation among its 8500 employees, and make use of its advertising space and website to promote the campaign.

“In addition to encouraging employees to participate and make a commitment, a gesture, a responsible choice among the actions suggested by DÉFI CLIMAT, the STM invites everyone that normally uses their car to take public transit a few days each week, because public transportation is one of the most efficient ways to successfully lowering GHG emissions. Now that type of action is both significant and easy to take !,” declared Yves Devin, STM Director General.

“The STM does not stop at asking people to do their share, it puts sustainable development at the centre of its business plan. With improvements to its offer of service, environmental actions taken on a daily basis and the introduction of its new brand positioning campaign, the STM is a leading figure in terms of the environment and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions in the Montréal area. And this is only the beginning,” emphasized Mr. Devin who wanted to remind everyone that “regarding the environment, every action counts !”
